With no formal art education, but loads of support and encouragement from family and friends, I have become more confident in my work.
After experimenting with different mediums I have found that acrylics are my preference, with pencil sketching being a close second.
My original works can be found in Brisbane homes and offices. In 2010 I was commissioned by Macarthur Coal to paint three canvases for presentation to their joint venture partners. Each canvas depicted a scene from Macarthur’s central Queensland mining ventures. One canvas has been presented to a partner in Japan and another in South Korea.
When asked what inspires me, I have to say “Everything. A blank sheet of paper or canvase, screams an invitation to make my mark … to leave something interesting or beautiful … or even inspiring. If you (as the artist) like what you leave behind, that’s a bonus! If someone else … anyone else, just one other person … likes what you have done, that’s a double bonus!!”
