Merry Christmas

A very merry Christmas to all!

The studio has been thrilled to bring you the wonderful artworks of very talented local artists in the past 12 months and we look forward to bringing you more exciting pieces from local artists and from others a little farther afield.

 

A huge thank you to each of this year’s artists who trusted their creations to the studio. We sold a number of works by different artists, including pieces by the studio’s artist-in-residence, LeesaB.

 

As always, your continued support of the studio is very much appreciated! Take care over the festive season – we look forward to your company again next year.

Guest Artist

December’s display is by a group of local artists – Amy Owers, Cameron Clark, Crystal Jade Harwood and Gus Eagleton – under the umbrella of Fire In The Belly Collective.

 

Each contributor offers a different style from the other - so take the opportunity to visit the studio before Saturday 23 and find that special something that takes your fancy – before it takes someone else’s.

Keepsake Boxes & Framed Tiles

A variety of LeesaB’s artwork is available on the velvet-lined keepsake boxes ($50) – ideal for storing jewellery, cufflinks and the precious little things you need to keep safe (pictured, Art Nouveau Lily). The framed tiles feature the series from ‘Grandma’s Garden’ ($30).

 

Scarlett’s Delight

The 51.5cm long Candy Garden necklace has Jade, Turquoise, Murano Glass and Rhodochrosite beads and is $55, with matching earrings at $15. The set is available for $65. 

 

Handmade Cards by Rose

Along with our standard range of beautiful handmade greeting cards by Rose, the studio has a very limited range of gorgeous handmade Christmas cards for $6.

Christmas is how far …

I know, right … seven weeks!!!! Unbelievable, especially if like me, you have not begun to plan. This is the time of year where the days seem to go faster than the ones that have already flow past at sonic speed J For the beginning of the Christmas season The LITTLE Art Studio is pleased to offer a wonderful display from our guest artist – Nikki Burrows, a new range of jewellery from Scarlett’s Delight and a limited selection of beautiful handmade Christmas card from Rose.

 

Guest Artist

November’s guest artist is Nikki Burrows, whose early creative passion was writing, poetry in particular, but after training and working in law felt a compulsion to explore paint and colour – the creative visual. The studio has 17 works from Nikki on display, from small funky pieces to large bold abstracts.

Spring has sprung

Spring is a fabulous time of year in Queensland, with trees sprouting lush green leaves and flowers blooming with beautiful colours, sending out exotic scents (sorry to anyone who suffers hay-feverL) and the temperature is perfect for days on end.

It is a time to be like nature and get motivated to produce some wonderful works of art.

That being said, the first two months of spring are going to be a hectic frazzle for our artist-in-residence who will be working on her new pieces before taking off to exciting holiday destinations.

Part (A) of the frazzle is that LeesaB has only just finished The Alphabet series she began in April and so only has a couple of new works available for this month. There will be (or so it is rumoured) a number of new canvases done by the end of October.

Part (B) of the frazzle is because the studio will have a couple of weeks (the last one in September and the first one in October) where it will open only sporadically. This actually begins with the usual third weekend opening for September, which has been reduced to Sunday only.

Carry Smith, a past guest artist, will be caretaking the studio during this time. Carry will have a few of her new works on display mid-September and would love to see you: however there may be times within our usual open hours that the studio will be closed. Should you visit and find the studio closed, remember we will be back to business as usual early OctoberJ

 

Guest Artist

Due to the possible patchy opening hours in September/October, the studio will not have a guest artist display in either month, the feeling being that it would be unfair to an artist that their works are not on view for a full month.

Here Come the Westerlies

Anyone who has ever lived in South East Queensland knows what I’m talking about. That lazy wind that could not be bothered to go around you … so it just goes through you … brrrrrrrrr!!

If you find the Westerlies blowing you in the Taringa direction, call into the studio and visit with artist-in-residence, LeesaB, who this month has two artworks entered in the Royal Queensland Show (lovingly known as the EKKA by the people of Brisbane). The last remaining pieces in her “Grandma’s Garden” series #1, ‘Marigold’ and ‘Pansy’ will be on display (and for sale), for the duration (9 -18 August).

Guest Artist

Damian Carroll

This month we welcome Damian Carroll who says his creativity is a continual ebb and flow of focus and stimuli, which keeps him moving from one idea to the next, not knowing what he will do next. Damian has a series of his Monoprints on display at the studio.

Framed Tiles

The keepsake boxes are available in either glossy mahogany (stained) or high gloss black wood, fully velvet-lined with a selection of LeesaB’s artworks on the inlayed tile and measure 5.5 x 13.8 x 13.8 cm. There are also delightful cherry-wood (stained) framed tiles measuring 15.3 x 15.3cm with a tile depicting one of LeesaB’s flowers from her ‘Grandma’s Garden’ series. The frames are $30 and the boxes are $50.
